When you hit a string, your pickup converts that vibration into an electrical signal. The type of pickup, its output level, its frequency response, its magnet type, even its position on the body all shape that signal before it ever touches your modeler. Single coil pickups have a narrower magnetic field that captures vibration from a smaller section of the string. Ceramic magnets push the most output and emphasize upper mids and highs. They're aggressive by nature. Great for metal. Less great for nuanced clean work through a Fender profile. Position, Position, Position

Bridge pickups and neck pickups don't just sound different because of their design. They sound different because of where they sit on the string.

Near the bridge, the string vibrates in tighter arcs with more harmonic content and less fundamental. The signal is brighter, thinner, and more aggressive. Near the neck, the string swings in wider arcs with more fundamental tone. The signal is fatter, darker, and smoother.

This matters for your capture workflow because a Tonex capture that sounds incredible on the bridge might turn to mud on the neck, and vice versa. Smart players build presets with pickup position in mind, not just amp settings. If you're building a preset for your bridge humbucker, maybe back off the treble a touch. Some modelers let you save different EQ settings per snapshot or scene. Use that. Your bridge and neck pickups are sending fundamentally different signals. Treating them the same is like wearing the same outfit to a beach party and a job interview.
